With over 16 years of experience practicing Physical Therapy in New York City, Afriqiyah Woods, PT, views every New Yorker as an “urban athlete”. After graduating from Howard University with Honors in Physical Therapy, Woods completed a prestigious Sports Medicine fellowship at The American Sports Medicine Institute under renowned orthopedic surgeon, James Andrews M.D. Armed with this expertise she went on to receive her Master’s Degree in Sports Science and Athletic Training from Long Island University. Woods has extensive experience in treating distance runners, weekend warriors, Yoga & Pilates participants, and college athletes. This experience continues to prove invaluable in the treatment of the non-athletic patient and with everyday functional injuries. In addition, Woods has trained numerous Family Medicine residents at Beth Israel Hospital. She is an APTA certified instructor. Her expertise in Sports and Orthopedics provides emphasis on functional integration with every one hour, one-on-one treatment session.
