Dr. Iyer is a Board Certified Dermatologist and professor of dermatology at Columbia University where he acts as medical director of the Residents Clinic. He earned a B.A. in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry and a second B.A. in Economics from Yale College. Dr. Iyer graduated with honors from the New York University School of Medicine where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center-Harvard Medical School and trained in dermatology at UCLA, where he received the Outstanding Resident Award for three successive years and also served as Chief Resident in Dermatology. He subsequently completed a one year fellowship specializing in dermatologic surgery focusing on cosmetic dermatology, laser surgery, liposuction, and skin cancer treatment through the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Iyer’s considerable training and fields of expertise include laser surgery, skin resurfacing, liposuction, botox therapy, soft tissue augmentation and skin cancer surgery.
Dr. Iyer has published extensively in both the peer reviewed medical and cosmetic dermatologic literature and has delivered scholarly lectures widely at national and international conferences. He has authored numerous articles on the applications of lasers for the treatment of skin cancer and for aesthetic enhancement. He is a contributing author to the textbook Liposuction: Principles and Practice. Dr. Iyer served as a clinical instructor in the Division of Dermatology at UCLA for several years. He is currently on faculty in the Department of Dermatology of Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
